I am a professor at the Vienna University, teaching Legal Informatics, International and European Law. I am Head of the group on legal informatics and strongly involved in privacy and legal informatics projects.

Which steps do you undertake to safeguard privacy in MARCONI?
We have done an analysis of architecture, data types and use cases of MARCONI to the conclusion that it involves heavy processing of personal data. Thus, proper safeguards in privacy, data security, privacy by design and default must be developed. The major point is getting the confidence of the users and being as transparent as possible. The user has to consent to the use of his data. Otherwise, MARCONI services cannot be delivered .
How do you see GDPR affecting the future applications for radio?
It depends on the degree of personalisation of services. Therefore, various pseudonyms of users might be an appropriate privacy by design measure. Some restrictions of advertising may be also appropriate.
